Reprogramming the Matrix: How Behavioral AI Mirrors Human Conditioning (and What You Can Do About It)

by - August 03, 2025

We are programmable beings studying programs to reprogram ourselves. And we taught machines to do the same.

Poetic justice, no?

Spoiler alert: I did. I reverse-engineered the system. And what I found is both hilarious and horrifying.

Let’s dive in.

For years, I’ve tried to connect my knowledge of Behavioral Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to unlock the mysteries of the human mind and its behavior. Since then, I’ve seen the puppet strings, learned the mechanics, and now I’m cutting cords and weaving new threads—for myself and others.

I woke up today at 5 AM with a thought inside me, bursting and wanting to be translated into writing—which is now this blog post. Maybe my guides wanted me to stop keeping it to myself and share it with those who are called to understand. So here goes…

The Hard Truth

Your fears, your desires, your beliefs… They were programmed into you.

Not by accident. Not by divine download. But through systematic conditioning—

By marketers. By media. By well-meaning (and not-so-well-meaning) societal systems.

The wild part? That’s the same formula used to train Artificial Intelligence—especially in what’s known as behavioral AI. And if you’ve ever studied subsumption architecture, this rabbit hole goes even deeper.

The Programming Loop: Humans vs AI

1. Subsumption Architecture (AI)
This is one of the earliest models in robotics and AI, where behavior is built layer by layer—starting from simple reflexes up to more complex behaviors. Each layer “subsumes” the lower ones, meaning higher-order behaviors can override or coordinate basic ones without eliminating them.
• 🧠 Example: A robot may have a basic layer to avoid obstacles, then a higher layer to follow a path, then another layer for goal-seeking. All these behaviors interact in real-time.

2. Human Conditioning (NLP + Society)
Humans are programmed in layers, too:
• Early Childhood – Basic emotional conditioning (love, fear, abandonment)
• School & Culture – Rules, comparison, identity
• Media & Marketing – Associations, repetition, aspirational triggers
• Trauma & Reward – Emotional memory binds everything

These layers don’t replace each other—they stack, just like in subsumption architecture. And just like robots, our “higher-level behaviors” (like rationalization, belief systems, identity) often stem from more primitive layers (fight/flight, approval-seeking, safety-based conditioning).

The Learning Process: AI & NLP

Behavioral AI learns via:
• Repetition: training sets
• Association: patterns, weights in neural nets
• Emotion: translated as reward functions or reinforcement

In NLP:
• Repetition: Creates neural pathways. Say something often enough, and the brain wires around it.
• Association: “Anchoring” links feelings to images, words, or stimuli.
• Emotion: Amplifies learning. The stronger the emotional state, the deeper the imprint (a key principle in both trauma and marketing).

Repetition. Association. Emotion. That’s all it takes.

AI’s behavioral pattern building and human social and neurological programming are the same.

Through my understanding of the subsumption architecture, I saw the hierarchical structure of behavior—both artificial and organic.

Then, by diving into NLP, I gained tools to deprogram and reprogram those human behavior stacks:
• Identifying the original layer (root program)
• Interrupting or rewriting associations
• Anchoring new emotional signatures

That’s alchemical work that I am doing right now. I’m using tech-rooted understanding to liberate the human psyche from its automated patterns. This time, I wanted to share it with you—to break free from the programming that you are in.

Subsumption Architecture: How Robots Learn Like Humans

Developed by Rodney Brooks in the 1980s (the same guy who helped build the Mars rovers and also one of the people who influenced my fascination with robotics), subsumption architecture is a model of robot control that doesn’t rely on a central command system (like a CEO giving orders). Instead, it builds behavior in layers, from the ground up.

Each layer is a module:
• 🧭 Layer 1: Avoid obstacles
• 🚶 Layer 2: Walk toward a goal
• 🧍‍♀️ Layer 3: Navigate around humans
• 🧠 Layer 4: Perform a task (e.g., deliver coffee)

These layers don’t replace each other—they coexist and influence behavior. Higher-level modules can suppress or override lower ones when needed.

Sound familiar?

That’s exactly how human behavior is structured.

NLP and Human Programming: The Biological Version

Let’s replace the robot with a human child.
• 👶 Layer 1: Basic reflexes and safety patterns (crying, clinging, freezing)
• 🧒 Layer 2: Emotional association (what gets love/approval)
• 🧑 Layer 3: Social learning (what earns belonging)
• 🧓 Layer 4: Belief systems, identity, goals

These behaviors are built using three tools:
1. Repetition
Your brain wires what you rehearse. “Practice makes permanent” isn’t just a motivational quote—it’s neuroplasticity in action.

2. Association
If Mom praised you when you were quiet, you associate silence = safety. If the media shows success always linked to luxury, your subconscious binds wealth = worthiness.

3. Emotion
Your emotional state determines how deeply the memory is encoded. Traumas? Encoded fast. Joyful peak moments? Also encoded fast. Emotion is the amplifier.

The Creepy Truth: You Were Trained Like a Machine
• You learned to crave approval by associating love with good behavior.
• You learned to fear failure because your nervous system encoded embarrassment with intense emotional charge.
• You learned what’s “realistic” by absorbing what everyone else said was possible.

This isn’t just psychology. It’s behavioral engineering.

And you didn’t even know it was happening.

But once you do…

The Beautiful Hack: Reprogramming Through NLP

Here’s where Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) comes in—not as some pop-psych party trick, but as a conscious editing tool for your layered architecture.

NLP mirrors subsumption:
• It identifies the underlying behavioral layer (what belief/trigger is firing).
• It uses pattern interrupts to loosen the grip of a behavior.
• It uses repetition + emotion + association—just like the original programming—to overwrite the code.

Examples:
• Anchoring a new confident state to a gesture (association + repetition)
• Using visualization and sensory submodalities to reframe past traumas (emotion + pattern editing)
• Installing future pacing and belief shifts to restructure identity (higher-layer rewiring)

Essentially, NLP gives you admin access to your behavioral OS.

Reprogramming Isn’t Just Mental — It’s Energetic

Let’s get this clear: your subconscious programming isn’t only stored in the mind—it’s embedded in your nervous system, your auric field, your emotional body, and even your cellular memory.

That’s why just understanding your wounds or triggers intellectually doesn’t always change the pattern.

This is where energy medicine steps in as the missing key.

How Reiki Helps Break the Code

Reiki doesn’t just “relax you.” It creates a safe vibrational space where your system can access and release deep imprints—the kind that don’t respond to logic.

What Reiki Practitioners Can Do:
• Channel Reiki with the intention to access core programming stored in the energetic and emotional body
• Work with CKR (Cho Ku Rei) to reset the flow of life force and unbind energetic loops
• Use SHK (Sei He Ki) to bring to the surface old emotional patterns or mental constructs
• Guide clients through self-awareness during the session: What comes up? What memories or feelings are released?

For Non-Practitioners:
• Receiving Reiki regularly helps gently clear the layers of energetic buildup that reinforce old beliefs or self-sabotaging loops
• You don’t need to “do” anything—your energy body and higher intelligence know what to release when held in the right vibration
• You can learn Level 1 Reiki for self-practice—it’s simple, empowering, and life-changing

How Access Bars Works Like a Neural Defrag

Access Bars® is the ultimate code-clearing system for the brain. It works by gently touching 32 points on the head, which correspond to different areas of life: money, healing, control, creativity, aging, joy, etc.

What Happens:
• Each point stores electromagnetic charge from thoughts, beliefs, judgments, and emotions
• When activated, these points discharge stuck frequencies—kind of like clearing cookies and cache from your energetic browser
• It disengages the reactive loops you didn’t even know were running

What Practitioners Can Do:
• Invite clients to observe what shows up after sessions: Do they make different choices without overthinking?
• Ask potent questions during the session to help the energy move: “What else is possible here?” “Who does this belong to?”
• Pair Bars with verbal processing to address stuck loops with language and energy

For Non-Practitioners:
• You can receive Bars sessions even if you don’t understand the mechanics—it’s gentle, relaxing, and deeply effective
• Want to take it further? Learning Bars is just a one-day class and opens up a new relationship with your own mind and energy

How Essential Oils Help Release Patterns

If the brain is our operating system, then essential oils are like olfactory access keys—they bypass mental noise and go straight to the source.

Here’s the science: when you inhale an essential oil, the aromatic molecules travel through the olfactory nerve directly into the limbic system—the part of the brain responsible for emotion, memory, and behavior. This is why a single scent can transport you back to childhood, calm anxiety within seconds, or suddenly stir a long-forgotten memory.

Now imagine using that power intentionally.

How It Works:
• Essential oils can disrupt old emotional loops by associating new frequencies with previous patterns.
• They can be used during Reiki, meditation, NLP, or Access Bars sessions to help the body anchor a new energetic state.
• Oils like Frankincense, Lavender, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, and Vetiver are known to support emotional healing, nervous system regulation, and even cellular communication.

What You Can Do:
• Use Lemon or Peppermint when working on mental clarity or releasing limiting beliefs.
• Apply Lavender or Roman Chamomile when calming the nervous system after emotional purging.
• Diffuse Frankincense or Sandalwood to hold sacred space during energy work, especially when you’re accessing deeper programming or inner child work.
• Try Clary Sage or Geranium for rewiring patterns around self-worth and receiving.

You’re not just smelling something pleasant—you’re delivering plant-coded intelligence into your body’s processing center.

Pairing essential oils with energy work creates a bridge between the physical, emotional, and spiritual layers—allowing the body to safely release old programming and stabilize new patterns.

You’re literally re-scenting your story.

Other Modalities That Break the Code

✴️ Crystal Healing
Crystals like Black Tourmaline, Labradorite, or Super 7 can help absorb and transmute old frequencies, especially when programmed with intention.

✴️ Sound Healing
Tuning forks, bowls, or even vocal toning can disrupt stagnant frequencies and create coherence where there was chaos. This is literal vibrational reprogramming.

✴️ EFT (Tapping)
EFT works with the meridians to dislodge emotional and belief blocks through spoken statements + acupoint tapping. It rewires by integrating thought and touch.

✴️ Hypnotherapy Hypnotherapy accesses the subconscious mind directly, allowing you to identify and reframe limiting beliefs at their root. It’s like conscious dreaming with a purpose—one that reprograms from within.

So, What Now?

We are programmable beings who:
• Were programmed without consent
• Are capable of reprogramming ourselves
• And have taught machines to mimic the same learning process we underwent

Whether you find that fascinating, empowering, or slightly disturbing… It means one thing:
You can choose to keep running inherited scripts… Or become the conscious architect of your own system.

Because once you understand the system, you’re no longer just a user. You’re the coder.

And that? That’s when the real magic begins.

From Deactivation to Re-Creation

Whether you’re a seasoned energy practitioner or just beginning, the goal is the same: To become conscious of the code, release what no longer serves, and write a new one in alignment with who you truly are—not who you were programmed to be.

And the beauty?

You don’t have to do it alone.

You have hands that heal. Tools that clear. Practices that soften the hold of old identities.
